10 Tips for Your Next Camping Adventure

by Johnny Webber

1. Gather all the fire wood you need for the night and put it in a pile. Then when you are done, grab more wood.

2. Don’t leave food in your tent. You don’t want to return and see a raccoon (or worse, a bear) tearing through your things.

3. Let someone know where you are camping. Give a friend your exact itinerary in case of an emergency.

4. Check your shoes before you put them on. You never know what might be crawling around in there.

5. Leave no trace behind. Not only should you be picking up your trash, but you should be picking up any trash you see.

6. Bring dehydrated food. Instant rice, dried fruit, and trail mix are your best friends.

7. Bring an extra roll of toilet paper. Leaves are not the best alternative.

8. Bring a headlamp. No more carrying around a light at night.

9. Learn first aid. Again, be prepared for emergencies.

10. Avoid low spots for your tent. Pick a spot for your tent that won’t flood if it rains.
